NOT EVERYTHING IS SUPPOSED TO MAKE YOU COMFORTABLE.
Yale professor Alma Imhoff (Julia Roberts) finds herself in a bind when a student (Ayo Edebiri) accuses one of her best friends and colleagues (Andrew Garfield) of sexual assault.
When Luca Guadagnino made a movie about #metoo and college activism, it was reasonable to expect something provocative. This film gets off to a promising start, depicting generational clashes between smug teachers and privileged, oversensitive students.
It’s a fine cast, but the story leads nowhere, with nothing interesting to say at all.
