In 1942, a Swedish foreign ministry bureaucrat (Henrik Dorsin) learns about systematic killing of Jews in Nazi Germany and decides that rules need to be bro… well, bent at least.
The directors’ feature film debut was based on real events, but chooses a daring path, adding a lot of humor to the bureaucratic maneuvers that helped Jewish refugees into Sweden at a time when the country was afraid of rocking the boat in its relationship with Hitler’s regime.
Follows a formula, but stays on the right side of corny; Dorsin is good as a diplomat finding his voice.
