IT’S PLAYTIME… AGAIN!
Chucky is brought to life again and tracks down his previous ”owner”, Andy (Alex Vincent), who’s now living in a foster family.
The sequel is off to a bad start with a thoroughly moronic script that comes up with convoluted reasons for Andy to be reunited with the wise-cracking, homicidal doll that tries to be a new Freddy Krueger.
Subpar acting also hurts the film, but Chucky is fun to watch, the score is inspired and the finale in a doll factory features spectacular, bloody effects.
1990-U.S. 84 min. Color. Directed by John Lafia. Screenplay: Don Mancini. Music: Graeme Revell. Cast: Alex Vincent (Andy Barclay), Christine Elise (Kyle), Jenny Agutter (Joanne Simpson), Gerrit Graham, Grace Zabriskie, Peter Haskell. Voice of Brad Dourif (Chucky).
Trivia: Director Tom Holland and Chris Sarandon were asked to return from the first film, but declined. Veronica Cartwright and Shannen Doherty were considered for roles. Followed by Child’s Play 3 (1991).
