Headhunters

THE HUNT IS ON.

Roger Brown (Aksel Hennie) is a successful headhunter, but suffers from inferiority complex and steals valuable paintings to pay for his lavish lifestyle; suddenly, he faces a formidable rival.

A riveting thriller from the same company that brought us the Millennium movies. A cat-and-mouse game between two unorthodox businessmen who are not easy to like, even if the filmmakers and Hennie slowly have us rooting for his obnoxious character as he embarks on a very violent, exciting and unpredictable showdown.

The story may have at least one action scene that’s impossible to believe, but you won’t want to nitpick.

2011-Norway-Denmark-Germany. 101 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Morten Tyldum. Screenplay: Ulf Ryberg, Lars Gudmestad. Novel: Jo Nesbø. Cast: Aksel Hennie (Roger Brown), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Clas Greve), Synnøve Macody Lund (Diana Brown), Eivind Sander, Julie Ølgaard.

Trivia: Original title: Hodejegerne

Last word: “I think that creativity thrives on restrictions. It forces you to think creatively. We couldn’t do huge stunts or explosions or slo-mo stuff. We couldn’t be a slick Hollywood film and had to shoot it another way. I decided that I wanted things to be very real and gritty and at the same time, I wanted to use dark humor. I wanted people to say, ‘oh that’s horrible’ but not be able to stop laughing.” (Tyldum, Dork Shelf)
