COME UNDONE.
Emerald Fennell’s highly touted adaptation of Emily Brontë’s classic novel has much to offer for the eye and ear, in terms of Charli XCX’s song score and Linus Sandgren’s dark, stormy cinematography that brings out the colors in costumes and sets.
Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi are pretty to look at while they sulk, quarrel, fuck and lurk in the rain; in this version, there’s more emphasis on sex than class struggle.
However, far too many scenes come across as artificially staged, poses rather than moments that are genuinely gripping.
